The trail is an easy 2 mile walk around the historical parts of Stamford Bridge and  should take between 1 - 2 hours depending on your interest and ability.

Our Objective – To Produce a leaflet (and signage) with a Map of the village and trail to be available at the Post Office and other oulets. People can buy the Leaflet and follow the trail by themselves. Evetually to have downloadable Audio and Video guides to follow on phones and tablets.

Background

For it's size, Stamford Bridge has a huge amount of the History of Britain associated with it. Although NOT mentioned in the Doomsday book the village can claim to have been part in nearly all of the major events that have taken place on this Island. Today we are a thriving 'small rural town' population 3,500 but go back in history and you will see a very different picture. The trail will show you how the 'settlement' has changed and grown over the centuries and how it has adapted and evolved.
